The Vessel has been maintained well, and has installed many new components, or has back-up systems ready to put in service. All rigging is serviceable, and she is ready to sail. The electrical system was re-wired in 2010, and the upholstery was redone in 2009. Woodwork needs to be brightened up - it is starting to show some age. The Canvas needs repair and cleaning. Bottom was painted in 2005 with an experimental barrier coat to rectify notorious Morgan blistering. On next haul-out in 2008 seller applied five coats of paint and there were no blisters. On the last haul-out in 2012, there was absolutely no blistering. Owner is planning another haul-out this year. Haulout in 2021 showed only a few blisters. A great deal of time and money was invested preparing the boat for a trip to Hawaii. Although this trip had to be abandoned for personal reasons she is still ready for the voyage. You should probably approach this project with the assumption that all mechanical and operational systems need to be repaired or replaced. The hull, decks, and standing rigging appear solid and serviceable with no soft spots noted. Most running rigging needs replaced. There is a mainsail, a mizzen sail, and a furling jib. There is also an unknown sail below. The condition of any of these sails has not been evaluated. This 1972 Morgan Out Island 41ft Ketch Sailboat is in normal condition for a vessel this age, but it will need some tlc before its ship shape. A World Cruiser Model 413 Centre Cockpit Walk-Over model, Hull #56. Ready for new adventures! One of the most popular production boats of this size ever built. Nearly half went directly to the charter trade. This design underwent numerous modifications during its production life so dimensions, interior layouts, and other details vary widely. This particular MOI41 has been almost updated over 15 years and is well-equipped for extended cruising. The Morgan comes with a Perkins 4.236 85 HP engine with approximately 1000 hours. You have a Paragon Gears P33L transmission. This walkover configuration provides terrific privacy with two completely separate cabins - and lots of storage to boot. From the cockpit go in the forward companionway down just a few short steps to the saloon. Immediately to port is a U-shaped galley. Just forward of the galley is a U-shaped dinette. The settee in the dinette can be used as a single berth. Opposite the dinette is a straight settee. The starboard settee can be used as a single and perfect sea berth for offshore passages. From the salon, a passage leads forward to the forward head and bunk bed suite. To port is the forward head. Two doors to the forward head allow access from the salon and private access from the stateroom. From the cockpit, another companionway leads just a few steps aft into a separate private cabin. The cabin is huge and oriented across the stern. The suite includes a private head with a shower and custom cabinetry. This dual cabin configuration provides sleeping accommodations for six and comfortable dining for four. The Lehman engine was recently rebuilt by mechanic. The transmission is currently out of the vessel being rebuilt. The vessel was hauled out and bottom painted within the last year (reported Aug 2023). The owner indicates the sails are in good condition, the owner is not sure of their age. Stock #338527 1982 Island Trader 40 powered with a Lehman diesel engine These Island Traders were once the top of their class. While this vessel needs some TLC, her bones are good. The hull was recently painted, she a fiberglass hull, built in Taiwan. The wood hatches covering the floor expose the engine room and lots of storage space. Her galley has a stainless steel fridge / freezer that looks to have been added by one of her previous owners. The current owner is a mechanic and maintains the Lehman engine. The direct drive transmission is currently out of the boat and being professionally serviced, see pictures. There is ornately carved wood railing surrounding the aft deck. 1973 Morgan Out Island Like most everyone I value my boat more than the market; therefore, I'm reducing the price by $1,000 every month until sold and always respecting offers. After 45 years of liveaboard cruising and 32 years with this well-known ketch & 24 transits from Maine to the Bahamas, physical limitations force me to sell. Read the May 2009 Southwinds Magazine for a review featuring this "turn-key" coastal cruiser.
